De-Cluttering Our Bodies
by Dr. Laura Thompson
I’ve recently been on a kick – ditching the papers, the magazines and the “to do” lists from the past 3 years, revamping the closets, giving away the old shoes, cleaning out the trunk of the car – even addressing the desktop of the computer. I’m noticing many people around me doing the same thing. My husband has it right – it’s time for minimalism and to get out the clutter. (Hmmm, was he referring to my dresses?)
One of our clients at the clinic told me a story about what she found when she went through the piles of paper in her office. Dust flew, ants scurried and yes – at the bottom of the pile were some worms. I thought – wow – that’s like our bodies. When the food stagnates, toxins build, fermentation and yeast occur, and yes, even worms.
Imagine -- that is what’s occurring in your body and most of the bodies of the people around you. It has become apparent to me, in fact it hits us practitioners square between the eyes, that most people with symptoms or conditions, have them because there is toxic overload in their bodies. Sometimes it’s food toxicity – pesticides, preservatives, hormones. Sometimes it’s environmental toxicity – automotive, industrial, heavy metals. Sometimes it’s the toxicity of stress -- mental, emotional, and physical, which weakens our defense system and allows for infections and inflammation take hold.
Layers and layers of these toxins and pathogenic “intruders” must be dealt with, or they deal with us. Chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, allergies, asthma, hormone imbalance, chronic infections, depression, anxiety, skin problems, weight gain, premature aging, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other degenerative illnesses are all about the toxic overload. We can peel away these layers and we must start now. Disease and discomfort and not inevitable. They can be avoided.
One of my favorite programs for cleansing toxic residue, the bowels and the blood, is called the Clear Vite Cleansing Program. It includes digestive support, colon cleansing, gut healing, kidney and liver support. These organ systems, the digestive, the liver and the kidneys are necessary to be “open channels” in order for the toxins of the body to leave. Exit. We want them gone, but we have to open the doors for them to leave.
You know how good it feels to clean your house, your car, your office? You know how you feel after long, hard day and then you take a refreshing bath or a shower? Well who else is going to cleanse your body internally if you don’t? I’m ready – are you? We – and I mean our whole staff -- at the Southern California Institute of Clinical Nutrition are starting our cleansing today. Team effort. Let’s do it together. Let’s de-clutter – get out the stagnancy. Time for rejuvenation. After all, it is the beginning of Spring and a good time to start new projects. You do have the time, for this cleanse. It will reveal answers to create more energy, more efficiency, better connections and happier days.
