Water Works For Weight Loss
As often as we've heard it, do we really know why? Drinking adequate, pure, fresh water is very effective for weight loss. Our bodies are made of 70% water. That's incredible when you think about it. Water is utilized constantly to hydrate, mineralize, conduct, energize, burn, move, detoxify -- and live. It fuels the brain and muscles. When we are hydrated, our cells can do what they're supposed to do.
Funny, that when we are dehydrated, the body holds on to water. In the hierarchy of functions, weight loss and fat burning are at the bottom of the list when we are dehydrated. The water is used for much more important things -- such as helping the kidneys flush toxins from the system. And if the kidneys can't do their job up to par, the liver takes over. This causes the liver to lower productivity of its own duties - one of which is metabolizing fat. And so, fat burning and even sugar handling become compromised. Start downing the water and you'll notice more balanced appetite, more energy, less bloating, better bowel function, buoyant skin and more efficient weight loss.
Carry it in the car, put it on your desk and by your bed. Reminders help. Try to drink most of your daily intake before 7 pm, so your bladder doesn't tap you on your shoulder while you're sleeping.
Rule of Thumb: Drink 1/2 oz of water per pound of body weight. So, a 150 lb. person should drink at least 75 oz. of water per day.
