Community Action
The Southern California Institute of Clinical Nutrition is a nutritional education and research center, focusing on the enhancement of health and wellness.
Dr. Laura Thompson, the facility's director says, "We feel very strongly about participating actively in our local community. We are especially dedicated to assisting children and their families in living healthy, vibrant lives by offering nutritional information to parents, teachers, and other care-givers.
This is vital. Remember, Our Children Are ... What Our Children Eat."
Dr. Thompson delivers free lectures and talks in San Diego County. She has spoken at Scripps Hospital, Moeller Institute, Oasis Senior Centers, Kiwanis Clubs, San Diego Chat Club, Women Helping Women, Parents Helping Parents, public and private school PTA groups, and many other community support and non-profit groups in San Diego County.
The Southern California Institute of Clinical Nutrition also sponsors a free Wednesday Evening Lecture Series. Popular topics are discussed by Dr. Thompson, including Natural Hormone Balancing, Osteoporosis and Bone Loss, Weight Loss and Children's Nutrition.
In addition to SCICN’s desire to help make a positive change in the way children eat and the food that is offered, Dr. Thompson and associates have a great interest in furthering artistic endeavors for children. “We whole-heartedly donate to several organizations that promote the arts for children – music, art, drama.” Expression and imagination are nutrition – just as important as our food. They are the fuel that creates joy, connections, self confidence, and all ‘round good health.”
